WEVA Bridal Survey, Association Programs 'In the News'
January 29, 2004

Sarasota, FL - Four new articles in national and regional publications illustrate WEVA International’s continuing involvement in the effort to educate the public on the value of professional wedding and event videography.

“Cherished memories from once-in-a-lifetime events have been lost forever because the event was not professionally videotaped. Fortunately, today’s bride is increasingly recognizing the importance of placing professional wedding videography at the top of her priority list to ensure that priceless memories are preserved on DVD for now, and for all the generations ahead,” said WEVA International Chairman Roy Chapman. “It’s great to see the media taking a more active role in educating readers on the historical value of video and reporting on the exciting new trends emerging in digital videography.”

The new issue of “Chicago Weddingpages” magazine, for example, features two separate articles devoted to videography, including the results of the 2003 nationwide survey of brides and their feelings about the value of professional wedding video, which was commissioned by WEVA International last January.

The first article, headlined “Lights, Camera, Videotape” is a Q&A with WEVA International’s Director of Media Relations Steve Wernick. Other industry experts are also quoted, including nationally-renowned bridal planner Deborah McCoy (author of “The Elegant Wedding and the Budget-Savvy Bride”), who notes the cost of professional wedding videography now ranges “from $1,500 to upwards of $10,000.”

“Picture Perfect,” subtitled “Your Failsafe Guide to the Best Wedding Video is WEVA” is the second information-packed article appearing in the current issue of “Chicago Weddingpages.” The comprehensive report spans five pages and also includes an interview segment with local WEVA International member, Kris Malandruccolo.

The article highlights the results of the WEVA Survey of Brides, illustrating the dramatic impact of professional wedding videography. Readers are directed to the WEVA International website (www.weva.com) for assistance in finding a professional videographer in their area. Both articles will run for a full year (four issues) of the magazine.

“Discovering WEVA” is the title of an in-depth feature in the new (March 2004) issue of “Camcorder & Computer Video Magazine.” The report introduces readers to the advantages of the professional development programs offered to wedding videographers by WEVA International and the many benefits of membership in the association.

The “Southwest Times Record,” the daily newspaper based in Fort Smith, AR, turned to WEVA International to obtain the 2003 Bridal Survey results and discuss the new trends in professional wedding and event videography. The details will appear in their annual bridal supplement, which will be delivered to over 42,000 subscribers on February 1, 2004. The Times Record also hosts the largest bridal show in the region, where additional copies of the bridal section will be distributed to all attendees.

Breakthrough Marketing (Des Moines, IA) conducted the nationwide bridal survey, which was commissioned by WEVA International in January of last year. The results are at: http://www.weva.com/cgi-bin/newsreader.pl?type=o&storyid=940&bto=1. The survey revealed professional wedding videography is rapidly becoming a preferred medium for recording and preserving precious wedding memories, and showed why today’s bride considers videography a top priority.

WEVA International is the largest trade association for professional wedding and event videographers. The association is dedicated to advancing the professional interests of wedding and event videographers worldwide through continuing education, technical support, group benefits, advocacy committees and professional development training.
