Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about our Forums.

Q: Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?

A: No. The use of html code in your message can cause errors that may crash some browsers.

Q: Why didn't my post show up?

A: Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of your computer's cache memory. Please reload your browser and it should then appear.

Q: Why didn't my password and ID# work?

A: Your ID# needs to be entered in username box. The password and ID# are upper and lower case sensitive and need to be entered exactly as issued in order for them to work.

Q: How long are posts listed on the Forum?

A: Posts remain on the Forum for approximately seven days.

Q: Is there a log of Forum posts?

A: No. There are no archives available at this time.

Q: Do I have to use my e-mail address?

A: Yes. E-mail addresses are a required part of your post. It is necessary to include it in your message so that other members can respond to you directly.

Q: Why did my post get removed?

A: Posts that are removed usually are in violation of the guidelines set forth by WEVA International. Example - posted on the wrong Forum, contains profanity, graphics, advertising, links or URLs.
WEVA International reserves the right to edit or delete content posted on the Forums that does not comform to the guidelines as stipulated, or articulated by the WEVA Forums administration.

Solicitation of Members
The WEVA Forums may not be used to solicit members. This includes solicitation for participation in surveys, product demos, etc. Members that are found to be "mining data" of other members (ie. e-mail addresses) for solicitation is also prohibited.

Advertising
Posts will also be removed for grandstanding. Statements of good service and recommendations are encouraged but elevated talk of a company is advertising and this is not allowed on the WEVA Forums. Posts of this nature will be removed.

Q. Should I post administrative issues on the Forums?

A. As the guidelines at the top of the Forum pages state, questions regarding administrative issues should be e-mailed to the association office. This prevents the Forums from being tied-up with off-topic threads. Administrative issues that are posted on the forums are removed.

Q. Can I post a survey for my services on the forums?

A. No. This is considered a form of advertising and it is not allowed on the WEVA Forums. The WEVA Forums are not a place to solicit other members privately or through surveys. Members that are found to be "mining data" of other members (ie. e-mail addresses) for solocitation is strictly prohibited and can lead to the loss of membership in WEVA International.

Q. What action is taken if the Forum guidelines are violated?

A. Members are notified by email if they have violated guidelines. If violations continue, access to the Forums may be withdrawn. Continued abuse of the Forums may lead to the revocation of membership.

Q: Why cant I put a URL or link in my message?

A: Direct links are not allowed due to commercialism. You may post a company name and phone number in your message. Posts that contain an advertising theme or promotional endorsement will be removed. WEVA International does have a links page and this is the only place for URLs and links. It is best to directly e-mail the URL or link to the recipient.

Q: Why cant I put a graphic in my message?

A: Graphics are usually slow to load and take up bandwidth that makes the whole website slow.

Q: What is the number following the message?

A: The number refers to how many responses have been submitted.

Q: Why cant I log on to the Forums?

A: The WEVA International Forums is a password-protected area for members only. Members may e-mail [email protected] to get their free password and ID number.

Q: Why are the boards topic-specific?

A: Because in the past, WEVA experimented with the non-specific, free-form "chat" board approach and found it did not meet the needs of the majority of members who are busy professionals looking for quick information on specific topics related to wedding and event video production.

Q: What is the function of the Production and Marketing Forum?

A: Members use this forum to exchange ideas and share information on topics related to individual production techniques (not equipment issues) and marketing of services. WEVA administration also uses this forum to post important member information.
