2-Days on Cinematic Lighting with Den Lennie Starts 12/16 at AbelCine
November 29, 2013
New York, NY - In this 2-day master class, DP Den Lennie will show you how to get past the technical considerations of your camera system and focus on the creative applications of lighting. This small group class (limited to 8 people) will include lots of hands-on work. You will master how to shoot and light interviews and build creative sequences. The workshop will focus on fine-tuning your exposure, framing and lighting. Register now (WEVA members use your member discount code for special 25% savings on workshop registration).
In addition, the workshop will explore how to light using minimal lighting, film using prime lenses, and use the tripod to simulate cinematic camera movement in as little as 20 minutes.
An important factor in this unique method of training is learning to work fast but without compromising quality. You will also understand that by slowing down your approach, you get more done and shoot video that looks better, in the same time frame as only “covering the action” in a more traditional way.
During the workshop, you will work with other attendees to create a variety of setups. On day one, working in confined and bland spaces, you will master techniques that use minimal lighting gear to achieve dramatic results. You will shoot 6-8 different setups on the first day and each will demonstrate a unique look and style. These are “battle tested” techniques Den has used to film over 3,500 interviews in a career spanning almost 20 years.
On day two, you will again work with a team to light and shoot a 20-shot sequence that will be used to create a 30-second spec commercial. You will have only two hours to complete this challenging assignment. You will be doing this under Den’s guidance, and he will share his method of acquiring many different shots in very quick succession. For more information visit AbelCine.
